Los Angeles, CA- Lethal Amounts  is proud to present the Anton LaVey Exhibition chronicling Dr. LaVey’s influence on American culture. LaVey, founded the Church of Satan in 1966 with a belief system between religion, philosophy, psychology, and carnival. At the core of the Church is Satan was the idea of vital existence; rejecting the idea of submission and restraint prevalent in Christian based faiths of the time.

The Church welcomed outsiders, the LGBT community,  non-conformists  and radical thinkers. The religion was designed for the intellectual elite, empowering the concept of self-acceptance and ridding the guilt of carnal delights. The message was “If you couldn’t enjoy the thrills of life, what is the point of life itself?”

The Satanic Bible, published in 1969, sent shockwaves across America cultural landscape,   challenging  traditional values, and  playing a role in the conclusion of the Summer of Love. By the time the book was published Dr. LaVey had built a loyal following,  including high profile celebrities like Sammy Davis Jr. and Jayne Mansfield, and from the media frenzy around his sensationalized weddings, funerals, and baptisms. LaVey passed to the other side on October 31, 1997. In the twenty years since his passing, the legend,  lore and work of Dr. LaVey continues to intrigue and inspire,  and his influence has remained prevalent throughout popular culture for generations.

To honor his legacy of challenging societal norms with theatrics and flare,  Lethal Amounts will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of  Dr. LaVey’s final curtain through a special event on October 31st at the Black Rabbit Rose/Madame Siam’s. The event will consist of an exhibition of items on loan from collectors around the world. On display there will be rare and never before seen photographs (for sale), original art by LaVey himself, original books, writings, personal items, artifacts from the Black House, ephemera, and more.

The event will include a lecture from long time collaborator and noted film director Kenneth Anger for VIP ticket purchasers,  a Black Mass performed at midnight by former high priest of the Church of Satan, Steven Leyba. Twiggy Ramirez will be DJing the event and those in attendance will include notable friends and fans such as Glenn Danzig, Matt Skiba, his grandson Stanton LaVey, and more.

NASHVILLE’S BOO RAY ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE  OF  SEA OF LIGHTS ON VINYL PARTNERSHIP WITH  KINDERCORE

NASHVILLE’S BOO RAY ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF SEA OF LIGHTS ON VINYL PARTNERSHIP WITH  KINDERCORE

BooRaySOLVinyl.jpg

“We want a bad-ass, rough-around-the-edges sound. And that is exactly what we get from said outlaw Boo Ray on his new record Sea of Lights. “  - No Depression

Nashville’s Boo Ray is excited to announce that his album Sea of Lights will be getting the royal wax treatment christening the Athens, GA based Kindercore pressing plant as it’s very first release on September 15th. Kindercore is a brand new pressing plant with a mission to modernize the current pressing process by making it more sustainable. The Kindercore research and development team have taken active steps toward renewable PVC replacements, seeking to be the first pressing plant to offer petroleum free phonograph records in the coming years. By Boo Ray being the first artist to work with Kindercore he is hoping to set an example for that taking steps towards preserving the planet, can be an simple as working with forward thinking companies like Kindercore.  If enough artists follow Boo’s lead collectively they can make a huge impact on making the industry more sustainable.

“I’ve had it on day and night, soaking up the electric guitar solos and Ray’s gritty, grinning vocal phrasing.” - Uproxx (on Sea of Lights)

The North Carolina born artist who spent years kicking around the southeastdecided to follow in the footsteps of other southern troubadour songwriters like Gram Parsons, Jerry Reed and Kris Kristofferson and head west. It was in Los Angeles where Ray sparked up a friendship and musical camaraderie with producer Noah Shain (Dead Sara, Escondido, Nikki Lane). The two collaborated on a few tracks that became Ray’s 2010 album, Bad News Travels Fast. For Sea of Lights, to capture the unassuming quality of Ray’s sophisticated songwriting the two embarked on the recording process at Shain’s White Buffalo studios in Los Angeles backed by an all star band that included Steve Ferrone on drums (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Paul Ill on bass (Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Hole etc.), Sol Philcox-Littlefield (Jim Lauderdale, Jake Owen, Aaron Lewis) on guitar, Dallas Kruse (Justin Grennan, Skylar Stonestreet) on Hammond B3, Smith Curry (Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Gibbons, Kid Rock) on pedal steel, and twin brothers Todd and Troy Gardner on backup vocals. The all-star line up recorded 10 songs in two days live to tape, using the  same 2inch tape machine used to record Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and several of Johnny Cash’s Nashville albums.

Most artists would cower under this type of pressure but Ray channeled that nervous energy into some of the best writing and recording of his career.

“As it is, “Sea Of Lights” is something special, a neatly constructed song with aspirational, but realistic lyrics about the vicissitudes of the artist’s life.”

LETTERS TO CLEO ANNOUNCE THE VINYL RELEASES OF AURORA GORY ALICE,  WHOLESALE MEATS AND FISH AND GO  + THREE NIGHTS  AT THE PARADISE

Nov. 2017 Paradise Residency copy.jpg

Boston’s Alt. Rock pioneers Letters to Cleo are excited to announce that their first three albums Aurora Gory AliceWholesale Meats and Fish and Go  will be available on vinyl for the first time ever. To celebrate the release of the vinyl the band will  be revisiting each of these albums from front to back  over a  three night run at The Paradise in Boston November 16-18th. Thursday November 16th they will be performing Aurora Gory Alice, Friday November 17th will be Wholesale Meats and Fish and Saturday November 18th will be Go. Blake Babies will be supporting on all three nights.  The vinyl is a limited edition pressing that will be available  exclusively at the three shows at the Paradise, on the Letters to Cleo website and at select Newbury Comic stores.

Ticket and vinyl packages will be available for pre-order on the Letters to Cleo website on Thursday (9/21). Single day and three day passes for the shows will be available on Ticketmaster.com on Friday 9/21 at 12pm EST.  “We have been hoping for a vinyl re-release of the Cleo catalog for years and with these albums having been made under an old record contract I wasn't confident it would ever happen,” says Michael Eisenstein. “Thanks to a lot of hard work, it's actually happening. We knew we wanted to do something special to commemorate this big 3 album vinyl re-release and when Greg (McKenna) suggested playing all three records in their entirety live, I shot it down right away. ‘It's too much work! You'll thank me later!’  The more he talked about it, the cooler the idea seemed. I'm pretty sure every song in our catalog has been performed live, but some only a few times and it's been 20 years or more.  It's an exciting challenge, that's for sure.”

Letters to Cleo formed in 1990 in Boston, lead by guitarist Greg Mckenna and singer Kay Hanley. The band came onto the National spotlight with the release of their first hit single "Here & Now,” released by Giant Records (a subsidiary of Warner Brothers Records). The song reached No. 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock Singles chart. The band’s music could be heard on many of the top TV shows and films throughout the 1990’s, including the cult classic 10 Things I Hate About You, where the band contributed 4 songs to the soundtrack and were feature in the film.  The band played their last show in 2000 and each of the members went on to have successful careers working in different areas of music from production, writing, performance, musical directing etc.

The original members reunited in the fall of 2016 for the release of the Back to Nebraska EP, their first new music from Letters to Cleo in seventeen years.  ABC News said “These five songs deliver exactly the kind of infectious power-pop that made them famous” and the Boston Globe said “It’s full of sweetly sour confections that recall the Alternative Nation era, like “Can’t Say,” which undercuts its sunshine-bright chorus with a growling bridge, and the brooding title track, which showcases lead singer Kay Hanley’s pensive side.”

In addition to performing the first three albums in full, the band will be playing fan favorites and new songs from Back to Nebraska.

ZAYDE WØLF WELCOMES YOU TO “THE JUNGLE”

ZAYDE WØLF WELCOMES YOU TO “THE JUNGLE”

The Jungle, a song by Zayde Wølf on Spotify

“ZAYDE is simply the dark rock child of Imagine Dragons and The Black Keys…”
- Ones to Watch

For his newest single “The Jungle” released on 8/25, ZAYDE WØLF mastermind Dustin Burnett channels the memories of the small town of Metropolis, Illinois where he grew up. The town is known as the “Superman Town,” and boasts a larger than life Superman statue in the town’s “Superman Square” paying tribute to the alter-ego of the town’s favorite fictional son Clark Kent.  The song reflects on the idea of this “super human” town, which in reality is a tiny river town that has become a shadow of its former self.

The song boasts of ZAYDE WØLF’s signature huge chorus’, driving drum beats with powerful lyrics about grit and survival that have lead to ZAYDE WØLF building an exceptionally loyal and enthusiastic fan base. ZAYDE WØLF receives regular messages and feedback from fans about the powerful and positive impact that his music has had on their lives. From fans who used his music in an anti-bullying film, to a Mother who’s autistic children found comfort in his music, to a 14 year old girl who always wanted to get into boxing but was intimidated by the gym. ZAYDE WØLF’s music was her main source of motivation, and she now attends regularly. The girl’s Mother has noted even noted the last  WØLF single, “Brave” as her main source of inspiration after losing a child and will now be walking out to the song when she herself goes to fight her first boxing match.

ZAYDE WØLF is the creation of Nashville based Billboard chart topping songwriter and two time Grammy nominated producer Dustin Burnett who started his music career as the frontman of The October. After years of touring Burnett decided to primarily focus on writing and producing. He found success working behind the scenes as a writer, producer and mixer working with artists such as Tyrone Wells, Us the Duo, Augustana, Dave Barnes and more.  He is also the co-founder of That Sound, a boutique drum sampling company that has become the go-to for songwriters, producers and mixers looking for unique drums sounds and samples.

At the end of 2015, he began working with the L.A.  based licensing company, Lyric House. The company sent him a custom opportunity to create a song for a movie trailer, and Burnett — unable to find someone else to sing on the track — decided to record his own vocals. The company loved the result. What had began as a movie trailer project expanded into something unique: a new musical project called ZAYDE WØLF, which combined Burnett's history as a producer with his talents as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.

To date ZAYDE WØLF’s music has been heard in hundreds of films, trailers, TV shows and commercials.  From shows like Younger, Wynonna EarpShamelessTeen Wolf, The Night Shift and Born This Way to trailers for Jack Reacher 2 Never Go Back, Gold, Rio I Love You, spots for UFC, the NFL, the NBA, Olympics and more.

7 COME 11 RELEASES “NOBODY WINS” SINGLE +  ANNOUNCE THE UNIVERSE OUT OF TIME EP  OUT SEPTEMBER 29 ON TALLEST MAN RECORDS

“...it's cool to see music we made 50 years ago inspiring a lot of young musicians...I'm glad they're listening....It's cool to see these young dudes take that inspiration and do their own thing....” - Art “Poppa Funk” Neville

The Bay Area’s Tallest Man Records is excited to announce the release of “Nobody Wins” the first track off the forthcoming EP Universe Out of Time from 7 Come 11 due out on September 29th.

From the forthcoming EP Universe Out of Time out 9.29.17 http://www.7come11.net https://www.facebook.com/7come11 https://twitter.com/7come11band https://www.instagram.com/7come11band https://www.youtube.com/7c11 https://soundcloud.com/7come11

7 Come 11 is the brainchild of San Francisco Bay Area based musician Gianni Staiano. The project was created with Staiano and his Hammond B3 as the focal point, which for this new EP has expanded to include a whammy clavinet, modified to Staiano’s specs by Ken Rich at Sound Services. The clav, with the whammy bar adds a level of heaviness to the 7 Come 11 sound, mimicking searing guitar like wails (all created by the clav) that are all over the EP. “I saw a Castlebar Clavinet on YouTube years ago and was blown away,” says Staiano. “Of course only like 7 were made back in the 70's and good luck finding one for sale. In the search though I found Ken Rich who had taken the initial concept which was fraught with design flaws and reimagined it. His creation changed my musical life. All of a sudden I could be super expressive with a keyboard instrument. Bending notes and playing the in between ones. Things I've been fantasizing about since childhood now suddenly at my fingertips. This was something I could man-handle and really feel the connection to the strings. It's like a whole new universe of expressive possibilities has been opened up to me. That's why I guess this is more of a rock album and way wilder sounding.”

“Nobody Wins”  was the very first song recorded with the whammy clav and is the most raw track on the album. The track is two takes pieced together, and was Staiano’s first real bonding moment with the whammy clav, where the instrument showed him what it was capable of, including making some decisions of its own.

The track opens with distorted vocals stating “We’re all the same people, We’re all the same race, If we don’t come together, Nobody wins.” This track was written in the fall of 2016 where the topics of immigration and race dominated the news feeds and stayed on the tip of the Nation’s tongue amidst the rise of Trump’s Nationalist movement. This tension can be felt in the heaviness of the song and the strain of the whammy bar bending the notes on the clavinet. In the wake of Charlottesville, the weight and depth of “Nobody Wins”  is more palpable now than ever.

This past year has seen Staiano share the stage with some of his musical heroes the funky METERS, and The Original Meters whom he has supported on numerous shows, including the Original Meters 50th anniversary show at the Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans during the New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival. He has also warmed up the rooms for dance inducing funk power houses Con Brio, Lettuce, and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk.

Staiano’s  forward thinking musical heroes, like the Meters,  have been the driving force for him to push the limits and boundaries of his sonic creativity— and more specifically, how he can merge his classically trained musical mind with new technology.  The result is a whiplash mélange of futuristic funk it that calls to mind  a sonic dance party with Herbie Hancock by way of Daft Punk.  This process has been a slow burn for Staiano, who attended the Berklee College of Music before studying jazz at San Diego State.  Although Staiano grew up removed from the world of dance, 7 Come 11’s music has developed into a sonic dance party. Staiano’s version of dance music comes from his intense study of  West African music. Staiano fell hard for dance music, while traveling the region to study with its most dedicated disciples, and now feels it as an essential part of his musical being. Staiano describes simply, that was he is making is music that he wants to dance to. With this new record and new instrumentation Staino dives even deeper into experimenting with technology and making music that moves him.

Staino will be taking 7 Come 11 out on the road this fall. Tour dates to be announced soon.
