LISTEN: DAMN, FEELINGS

Today, vinyl-presser-turned-pop star Chayla Hope has digitally released her solo debut Damn, Feelings. After years spent fronting rock bands in her hometown of Cleveland, Hope reinvented herself within the classic dance-pop sounds that raised her while performing as a female drag queen. Her powerful voice provides an indelible sonic throughline exploring heartbreak, infatuation, loss, and the feelings that make us human.

"In the nearly nine months I spent recording Damn, Feelings, I remember coming to the realization while writing ‘Dancing While I Cry’ that I was writing a record for my younger self," Hope says. "There are a lot of references to the '80s and '90s because pop was always a safe haven for me growing up; a place where I could unabashedly be myself. I want fans to have that same experience listening to the album. I poured all of my love, pain, and heartbreak into these songs because they're what I needed to hear in order to continue to heal,” she continues. “I hope others can too."

Tracked at Suma Recording with Michael Seifert in the producer’s chair, the album’s 11 songs were brought to life by mix work from Josh Gudwin and Andrew Wuepper. The tracks also feature string arrangements and performances from Eric Gorfain and his group The Section Quartet, tracked at Sunset Sound. Hope also released cinematic music videos for several of the album’s singles:

Hope has been uniquely involved at every step, returning to her former employer Gotta Groove Records to press the vinyl herself alongside Wax Mage Records. Damn, Feelings is a showcase of impressive range and infectious spirit from pop’s next great vocalist, songwriter, and record-maker.

Recently, she announced a collaboration with Saucy Brew Works to create a beer to commemorate her album release, aptly named Damn, Feelings. The brew is a super-fruited Imperial Hazy IPA with pink guava, apricot, and blood orange. At  8% ABV, it is sure to have tasters “in their feelings.”

A proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, it’s no surprise Chayla was selected to sing the theme song for Care Bears: Unlock The Magic and has numerous features in the show’s soundtrack and merchandise, embodying its core themes of empowerment, inclusion, and self-understanding through her music.

Hope will host a listening party and officially launch her beer at Saucy Brew Works’ Ohio City Brewpub on October 29th. Click HERE for more information.  Be sure to follow Chayla Hope at the links below for all the latest news and updates.

Cleveland-based powerhouse Chayla Hope has unveiled “Alone,” the newest single from the vinyl-presser-turned-pop-star’s solo debut Damn, Feelings, out digitally on October 28th.

Mixed by three-time GRAMMY award nominee Andrew Wuepper (Justin Beiber, Rihanna, Katy Perry), this ‘80s-inspired dance-pop anthem was the first track written for the project, evoking Whitney Houston and Madonna in its polished grandiosity, towering synth stabs, and Hope’s trademark vocal acrobatics. "'Alone' is all about me working through my deep-seated fear of abandonment," Hope says. "This was the song that not only proved to me that I could go solo, but that there was power in going it alone."

“Alone” follows “Long Way” a triumphant funk pop tribute to the New Jack Swing era also mixed by Wuepper, “High” (along with her own Chayla Hope-branded rolling papers), “Love In Lo-Fi,” “Falling,” and “Forget Me Not,” mixed by 10-time GRAMMY award winner Josh Gudwin (Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa).

CHAYLA HOPE ANNOUNCES COLLABORATION WITH SHWAY PAPERS WITH NEW SINGLE “HIGH” + DEBUT SOLO LP DAMN, FEELINGS OUT OCTOBER 28

LISTEN: “HIGH”

Cleveland-based powerhouse Chayla Hope has unveiled “High,” the latest single from the vinyl-presser-turned-pop-star’s debut record Damn, Feelings, due out October 28th. A transporting, synth-pop, fever dream marked by crisp dance production, disco guitar, and Hope’s unfailing flair for vocal dramatics, the song details the desire to escape and rise above a toxic relationship. "It's about being so done with a situation that you will do anything in your power to not feel the emotional pain," she says. "There's an empowering message to it too: 'if you're going to let me down, I'm going to get high' and rise above it."

For the release of “High,” Hope has partnered with Shway Papers to create Chayla Hope-branded rolling papers (available for purchase HERE). Shway Papers was founded in 2020 during the pandemic as a creative outlet for Cleveland artist and musician MellowMan Funk. With its high quality smoke experience and eye-catching variety of artwork on the booklets designed by Mellow himself, Shway has become a movement and a way of life as the company is collaborating with many different brands and getting retail placement. Now that things have opened up more, Shway is throwing events and pop-ups, staying in tune with the art and music culture from which it was born.

“High” follows the release of “Love In Lo-Fi,” “Falling,” and “Forget me Not,” mixed by 10-time GRAMMY award winner Josh Gudwin (Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa).

CHAYLA HOPE PREMIERES NEW SINGLE “FORGET ME NOT” VIA THE HONEY POP

PARTNERS WITH ANIMAL RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS FOR RELEASE TO CREATE AWARENESS

DEBUT LIVE PERFORMANCE ON JULY 22

LISTEN: “FORGET ME NOT”

Cleveland-based powerhouse Chayla Hope has unleashed her latest single “Forget Me Not,” the third track from the vinyl-presser-turned-pop-star’s debut record Damn, Feelings, due out October 2022. Hope is using the single to raise awareness about animals in need of adoption and rescue, a cause very close to her heart. She will be partnering with animal rescue organizations in her hometown of Cleveland and beyond, like the UK-based Wunder Dog Rescue, which seeks to compassionately reduce the global stray dog population.

Mixed by 10-time GRAMMY award winner Josh Gudwin (Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa), the breezy ebb and flow of this summertime bop meditates on the feelings of attraction we often leave unexpressed. "It's about having the courage to act on them even when you're afraid," Hope says. "Not wanting to say anything out of fear, but knowing that not saying something could be holding both of you back from the love you've always wanted." “The vocals on this song absolutely blew us away. We can’t get over how much we love Chayla’s voice. The production is incredible, too,” said The Honey Pop in their premiere. “Forget Me Not” follows singles “Falling” and “Love In Lo-Fi.”

CHAYLA HOPE RELEASES VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “FALLING” + DEBUT LIVE PERFORMANCE ON JULY 22

WATCH // LISTEN: “FALLING”

Cleveland-based powerhouse Chayla Hope has unveiled the new video for her latest single “Falling,” an ode to the all-too-familiar feeling of instantly connecting with someone, only to question whether or not to blame it on the alcohol. In the video, directed by Zachariah Durr, Chayla turns the stereotypical music video love narrative on its head. "We wanted to play on people's expectations because, at its core, pop can be subversive and fun,” she explains of the video’s inspiration. “And sometimes that fun looks like a pair of platforms, rhinestone-studded suits, and a puppet devouring a male model whole."

Mixed by 10-time GRAMMY Award winner Josh Gudwin (Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa), this dark, intoxicating earworm evokes Chayla’s past as a drag performer. Its strutting groove turns any space into a runway fit for vamping. Chorus.fm, who premiered the track, called it “perfect for fans of Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa.”

“Falling” follows her infectious single “Love In Lo-Fi”; the song’s accompanying music video was directed by JR Strickland with choreography by Nicole Kirkland. "Falling in love will forever remind me of dancing,” says Chayla of the video’s inspiration. “Whether it's with a person, yourself, or your dreams, when you're in it, your pain disappears and you get to enjoy the feeling of being alive." Both singles will appear on her forthcoming debut LP Damn, Feelings, set for release in late 2022.
