ANDREW MCKEAG ANNOUNCES HIS SOLO DEBUT

ANDREW MCKEAG OF THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF HIS SOLO DEBUT THE ANDREW MCKEAG BAND

Andrew McKeag Band

The San Diego based esteemed guitar player and songwriter, Andrew McKeag, who has devoted his entire life to music has brought his lifelong love affair with rock n roll into his self-titled debut album, The Andrew McKeag Band due out on 11/17 . “This is an album of firsts for me,” says McKeag, “ first time I’ve used my name as the name of the band, first record I made after moving back to Southern California from Seattle in 2014 and a first step of sorts, in establishing my own creative world after years of playing with The Presidents Of The USA.”

If anybody can be the torchbearer for rock and roll it’s Andrew.  He’s performed with Bo Diddley and toured with Javier Escovedo. He  maintains his long-running and storied Seattle seventies rock cover band 70 Proof, which has boasted appearances from the likes of Duff McKagan as well as members of Mother Love Bone, Supersuckers, and more. He has played with a slew of bands up and down the West Coast, namelyShuggie, Hard Roller, Uncle Joe’s Big Ol’ Driver, and currently plays with San Diego’s The Dirty Sweet and Lady Dottie & The Diamonds. In 2005 McKeag joined the multi-platinum iconic Seattle luminaries The Presidents Of The United States of America. He toured everywhere with the band and remained integral to 2008’s critically acclaimed These Are the Good Times People and Kudos to You!  In the fall of 2016, he dove headfirst into penning ideas for what would become the Andrew McKeag Band.

In order to capture this vision, McKeag enlisted the talents of drummer Charlie George and bassist John Krylow and recorded with producer Scott Hackwith [The Ramones] in downtown Los Angeles at Cassette Recordings. Immediately, they tapped into an indescribable and inimitable chemistry.

The album kicks off with a wiry riff from the album opener ”This Old Lie.”  “I wanted to start the record off with this,” says MCkeag, “because it’s where your head’s at when you’re trying to start over. That’s what I was writing about.”

Songs from the album sought inspiration from interesting places like  “Love & Respect,” whose clever intensity is drawn from Facebook rants by a fascinating character who McKeag  describes as “sitting in an apartment smoking weed and sharing videos of great punk and rock ‘n’ roll all day.”

McKeag enlisted a large group of A-list guests, that include  Zander Schloss [Circle Jerks/Joe Strummer/Thelonius Monster] who can be heard on “Ordinary Fool,” guitar legends—Brad Whitford of Aerosmith and Zakk Wylde of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, and Zakk Sabbath, who are featured on a searing cover Mountain’s “Never In My Life,” and Ty Bailie [Katy Perry] provides keyboards throughout the album.
