BRANDY ZDAN RELEASES A DYNAMIC LIVE VERSION OF HER TRACK "WILD FIRE"

BRANDY ZDAN RELEASES A DYNAMIC LIVE VERSION OF HER TRACK “WILD FIRE”

FROM HER SOPHOMORE RECORD SECRETEAR

“The song begins with a load of fuzzy guitar courtesy of Zdan before the singer lets her vocals command the music, like the rock and roll love child of Karen O and Joan Jett...The video is a live performance and gives us a taste of the kind of unbridled energy Zdan and her band are capable of unleashing onstage.” Glide Magazine

Brandy Zdan has released a live version of her song “Wild Fire” out on all platforms today. To accompany the track is a live video shot in one take in her hometown of Nashville by Joshua Shoemaker (Alabama Shakes, Margo Price, Hurray for the Riff Raff), watch it HERE.

Working with Shoemaker on the video was incredibly exciting for Zdan. “I’ve been a fan of Joshua Shoemaker’s work for quite some time so I was excited when he reached out to me about shooting a live performance video. It was a no brainer letting him take the reigns as our aesthetic and color palette were a perfect match,” she says. This track is originally from her sophomore record Secretear released earlier this year that Relix Magazine described as “riff-laden burners and mindful pop ballads [that] shine with emotional resolve and permanence.” Co-produced by Zdan and Teddy Morgan, she also recruited My Morning Jacket's Tom Blankenship and Carl Broemel to play with her on the record.

“Now she's in Nashville, and the Lone Star State's loss is our indie rock gain.”

-The Tennessean

Thematically, the album saw Zdan reaching into the darkest corners of her past and letting go of anything that has ever held her back. She dug deep into her rock roots to bring forth a set of raw, commanding tracks that Rolling Stone said explore “the middle ground between the Beatles, the Breeders and the Bangles.” Additional praise for the record has come from The Tennessean, B-Sides & Badlands, Popdust and more. Songs from Secretear can also be heard on Spotify playlists like Badass Women” “Rockin’ VibesandFierce Femmes.” “Wild Fire” is a track that sets the tone for who Zdan is as an artist and whose message and tempo were perfect to bring to a live setting. She said of the song, “Wild Fire is a middle finger to the liars and fakes who try to put you down and keep you down. And if they keep you down even for just a second you know full well that it's all just fuel to pick yourself up, regroup and come out of the gates even stronger."

Zdan is also currently out on the road making a stop in Chicago tonight before traveling to Texas for a few more shows.

LOS ANGELES GALLERY LETHAL AMOUNTS PRESENTS:

PRIMORDIAL ORDER

Debut Exhibit from Erica Weitz

Erica Weitz Primoridal Order showcard.jpg

Los Angeles gallery Lethal Amounts is proud to present the opening of Primordial Order, the very first solo exhibit by multi-disciplinary artist Erica Weitz. Opening night will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1st from 7-10 PM. The exhibition is a conceptual series of photography produced using the wet plate collodion technique, one of the first forms of photography from the 1850’s, and one Weitz is completely self-taught in. In this alchemical darkroom process, light activated silver is directly exposed onto black metal plates

Primordial Order serves as an experimental deep dive into entropy. It’s a collection of 13 images depicting universal motion from order to chaos. It harnesses the power of alchemy and numerology to navigate the journey of bringing these concepts to life through photography. Numerically, the show starts at 1 being a single exposure representing order, 2 a double exposure, 3 a triple exposure and up to 13 exposures in an image showcasing chaos.

Weitz is a Los Angeles based artist who graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree concentrating in painting and photography. Working in the field of documentary photography, she has traveled extensively while continuing a painting practice. Her work centers around themes of archetypal symbolism, spirituality and the human psyche. Having thrown underground art shows for years, Weitz is thrilled to finally bring her work to a gallery setting.

MODA SPIRA RELEASES 'DIVORCE'

MODA SPIRA RELEASES DIVORCE

moda-spira-divorce-artwork.jpg

“The second single...reveals a piece of the singer-songwriter's soul; "Regret" paints an intimate portrait of what went wrong in a relationship, what could have been.”

Popdust (on “Regret”)

Filled with soulful instrumentation, vulnerable lyrics and tender melodies, Moda Spira releases her sophomore album Divorce. The project of singer-songwriter Latifah Alattas, it is an album marked by deep emotional honesty as it takes you on a sonic journey through the deterioration of Alattas’s marriage. To accompany the album, Alattas has released a podcast series. Each episode sees Alattas dissect a song from the album with producer Luke Brawner and co-host Aaron Hale, and is deeper examination of the pain, grief and healing process that resulted from the dissolution of her marriage. This podcast is as brutally raw and honest as it sounds, but was an important step in the healing process for Alattas to walk through the pain with the overall goal of putting the series into the world to help other people heal.

The episodes are dedicated to the making of a song on the record as well as the emotional story of her last year. Listen on Apple Music HERE and Spotify HERE.

“Emotional melodies float softly above an undeniably jazz-influenced, bass-led composition, coming to a head with the introspective and intimate lyric “Well you pulled the trigger / I didn’t know that you would ever.” The song leaves you with no true closure, “How do you explain?” hauntingly repeated to end the heartfelt serenade to the finality of something once held so dearly.”

- Two Story Melody (on “Bang”)

For Alattas, it was not an option to bury her pain, self-medicate or retreat deep into her own mind. Instead, she decided the best way to face her suffering, was to channel it into a radically personal and revealing work of art. These songs served as her guiding light through a dark and uncertain time in her life. The album kicks off with a haunting cover of “Ring of Fire” that showcases Alattas’s incredible vocals and sets the somber, yet electrifying tone for the record. It also includes “Four Letter Word,” a more R&B-tinged track and “Bang” that weaves the feeling of discovering infidelity into a jazzy, orchestral sound.

The album is now available digitally and on 180 gram white vinyl HERE. The accompanying podcast is made up of 13 episodes, each episode about a song on the record, in addition to a prologue and epilogue. On the podcast Alattas, who co-produced the record with Dave Wilton, gives listeners insight into her painful story with raw transparency and emotion as she explains the story behind each track.

Alattas began writing under the moniker of Moda Spira with the goal of exploring intimacy in all of its beauty. In latin, Moda Spira translates to “the continual act of breathing,” so like loving, breathing is something essential to our daily existence.

When the Nashville-based artist isn’t writing her own music, she works as a producer and engineer (a field in which women are few and far between) and has produced albums for indie artists, including A Boy & His Kite, helping them place “Cover Your Tracks” on the soundtrack for Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part II. Her songs have also been featured on One Tree Hill, The Gates, Lifetime films and The House at the End of the Street. She has also composed incidental music for MTV and E! Moda Spira is her return to solo performing. In addition to Moda Spira, Alattas has a long resume that includes time as a solo artist and work with Page CXVI, a band that reinterprets traditional hymns, the indie rock band Autumn Film and Sola-Mi, an experimental trio.

Fans can be first to experience Divorce in a live setting as Alattas brings it out on the road supporting Liz Vice.

“Awaken”, exemplifies her limitless innovation and devotion to sonic dexterity.” - Earmilk

Laura Escudé’s “Awaken” is out today worldwide on all major digital retailers and streaming services. This is the second single off the forthcoming EP Transmute due out on November 16th.

Laura Escudé is creative visionary, a CEO and the world’s most in demand controllerist and live show designer. She possesses a deep understanding of complex technology, a passion for music and art and a unique talent for fusing the two.  She was the world's very first certified Ableton expert and trainer. Her work with Ableton has taken her all over the world working with artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Porter Robinson, Herbie Hancock, Charli XCX, Drake, Bon Iver and more. The demand for her work and time became so great that she started a company called Electronic Creatives - of which she is the CEO -  and hired and trained a team of top tier programmers to serve her A-List client roster which now includes The Weeknd, Harry Styles,Camila Cabello, Vic Mensa, Porter Robinson, Kid Cudi,  Iggy Azalea, Garbage,  Charli XCX, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs,  Logic, Selena Gomez and more. Escudé recently sat down with Ableton to give fans a look into creative and complex composing process via the Ableton One Series HERE.

In addition to being an artist and CEO, Escudé also lends her time and talents to mentoring and educating up and coming artists. She is a frequent guest lecturer at conferences and major universities all over the world. This fall she will be a featured speaker at the Ableton Loop conference, and a featured mentor for Red Bull’s Hack the Hits program, Spotify’s CO.LAB Series and the Berklee School of Music’s Signature Series. She will also be launching the Transmute online course later this year. A course she designed to teach her craft of live show design to students with a mix of wellness practices, so they can not only build and enhance their careers but live a balanced and healthy life.

Escudé has previously recorded and released music under the Alluxe moniker, and these two singles from the Transmute EP are the first works to be released as Laura Escudé  since she went back to using her own name. The songs on this EP document the years Escudé has spent pulling back the layers of her psyche, tearing down the walls she built up to get to the person that she is at her core. Transmute is an intimate look into her journey of finding her voice.

“Awaken” is the point where Escudé experience freedom that comes with really knowing who you are.  She no longer has to choose  which role to play, that of entrepreneur, an artist and a performer. She only needs to be herself. This song sees Escudé embracing all aspects of herself and living life with clarity, gratitude, awareness and depth. Illness has become vibrancy. Dark has become light, and nothing is more symbolic of this transformation than by giving up her former stage name, Alluxe, and becoming Laura Escudé.

Escudé will be performing “Awaken” and the rest of the tracks on Transmute live at the #TransmuteInteractive event at Apogee Studios in Los Angeles on November 13th. For more information or to RSVP click HERE.

ZAYDE WØLF RELEASES A DELUXE VERSION OF HIS LATEST ALBUM 'MODERN ALCHEMY'

ZAYDE WØLF RELEASES A DELUXE VERSION OF HIS LATEST ALBUM MODERN ALCHEMY

zayde wolf alchemy deluxe.jpg

Nashville artist ZAYDE WØLF has released a jammed packed deluxe version of his latest album Modern Alchemy, a work that has already charted in over 25 countries on the iTunes overall charts and debuted in the top ten Alternative charts here in the U.S. ZAYDE WØLF is the project of producer, songwriter and entrepreneur Dustin Burnett. The deluxe version of Modern Alchemy contains 11 bonus tracks that include collaborations from artists like BHAVIOR, FJØRA, Generdyn, Built By Titan and more. When talking to Billboard about the collaborations Burnett commented that "They're all very different from each other, which I love. It was fun to hear what other people heard in something I created."

The album title Modern Alchemy is derived from the medieval chemistry of converting poor metals into gold. The driving theme is all about self-betterment and pushing yourself beyond what you thought possible despite where you came from or how people may have defined you. This topic hits very close to home for Burnett, who grew up in Metropolis, a small town in Illinois best known for its fictional son, Clark Kent aka Superman. The riverfront factory town is a shell of what it used to be, and the level of success Burnett has achieved, both personally and professionally, is beyond anything he ever imagined. All the original songs are packed with uplifting and motivational lyrics, set to the backdrop of the epic sonic production ZAYDE WØLF has become known for. Solidifying this epic theme, the remixes and bonus tracks catapult the deluxe to new heights. "The deluxe version of Modern Alchemy completes the full vision of the concept and expands it into new areas with the amazing features and collaborations," Burnett says. It includes stand out tracks like “Hurricane” with raw, rule-breaking artist FJØRA. Producer, writer and electronic artist Built By Titan, whose remix of “Dangerous” is Burnett’s personal favorite, said “When you think of ZAYDE WØLF’s music, you think of one thing: energy. It's quite challenging to deliver on a remix of a song that already is so big and powerful.”

The dynamic nature of ZAYDE WØLF’s music lies in its sweeping choruses, powerful heart swelling lyrics and ability to motivate listeners. Burnett’s sharp ear and production work is what originally launched him into writing and recording for his own project. ZAYDE WØLF was born from a track that Burnett originally wrote for another artist to sing, but the artist never showed. He then boldly decided to cut the song for himself and the rest is history. That one ZAYDE WØLF song released less than three years ago has led to two full-length albums, an EP, dozens of singles and a dedicated following that includes over 650,000 Spotify monthly listeners, 48 million streams on Spotify, over 25 million YouTube views and 115,000 subscribers. It has also lead to placements in hundreds of films, TV shows, trailers, commercials, and video games. The list includes Shameless, Teen Wolf, Love, Simon, the Jack Reacher 2 trailer, The Maze Runner 3, Pride Prejudice & Zombies, spots for UFC, the NFL and the NBA.

In addition to being the creative mastermind behind ZAYDE WØLF, Burnett is also the co-owner of a drum sample and loops company called That Sound that has become a staple for top level artists and producers. The business has more than doubled in the past year, due to the quality of their work, making their live drum samples more in demand than ever before.

THE SILENT COMEDY RELEASES 'ENEMIES MULTIPLY'

THE SILENT COMEDY RELEASES ENEMIES MULTIPLY

enemies-multiply.jpg

San Diego’s The Silent Comedy have released their long-awaited full-length album Enemies Multiply. Born of the personal and professional hardships that deeply affected brothers Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman a few years ago, the record would also become a harbinger for the current cultural climate. Enemies Multiply is a collection of 11 songs that the band is very proud of and like most incredible works of art, something really beautiful emerged from a very dark place. The timing couldn’t be better to release this album of songs shaped by bewilderment and frustration in 2018.

“Enemies Multiply is not only a step towards their DIY ethos, it’s a mainline into the creative process and family dynamic that both ignited and continues to sustain the band. At the center of it all are two brothers, raised on the Gospel, road worn, complex and relentless. The new album doesn’t put you in the van, but it does connect you to the heart of The Silent Comedy in a way that no album has before.” – No Depression

Recorded in Austin, Texas, Enemies Multiply is a sonically hard-hitting affair. The brothers used the conflicted energy of their personal struggles to create their most engaging album to date. At the center is “Sharks Smell Blood,” that’s all bluesy strut, spooky choirboy harmonies and a sing-along hook. Likewise, “Avalanche” features a searing guitar line and squelching church organ. “No Saints Forgiven,” begins as a back porch delta-blues confessional that quickly explodes into a Van Halen-esque sing-along at the chorus. The songs were shelved at the time for a number of reasons, the main one being that it was too difficult reliving the painful and frustrating time they were written in. But then the 2016 election happened. Joshua was living in New York City and feeling completely disheartened by the country’s new reality. He realized that the feeling of this moment is what they wrote the record for. A certain pall of outrage and desperation had settled over the country and in Joshua’s estimation, the album now had greater cultural resonance.

“The track showcases the band, known for its cathartic sing-along live performances, stomping through a desperate pop-rock anthem with a soaring chorus refrain of "Help, help is on the way / But not today." Five years removed from their last studio effort, 2013's “Friends Divide" EP, it's good to have 'em back.” NBC San Diego (on “Avalanche”)

Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman formed the Silent Comedy in their adopted hometown of San Diego. The brothers spent their childhood traveling around the world with their missionary parents. The family returned to the U.S. and meandered a bit on the road before settling in San Diego, where they moved into a house with nothing in it but an upright piano. It was then - around junior high - that the brothers started collaborating on songwriting as a form of catharsis. It is their travels that have colored their worldview, which when compared to some of their peers, is decidedly darker. Seeing the immense amount of suffering around the world really shaped their life views and Enemies Multiply is a distillation of this somber perspective.

Being the band’s third full-length album, it is the culmination of a long, winding journey for them. Joshua Zimmerman says, “Enemies Multiply is a really special album for The Silent Comedy. It’s a collection of our most personal, heartfelt songs to date and it means a lot to us to share it with the world. These songs are anthems for dark days, so this is a perfect time to release them.” Their last full length, Common Faults has gone through three rounds of CD re-pressings due to demand, and has garnered tens of millions of streams and downloads.Their music has also been paired with gritty American tales such as Hatfields & McCoys, starring Kevin Costner,  the History Channel’s original series The Men Who Built America, Showtime’s Shameless, and the theme song for the first season of the Amazon show Goliath. The success of the album led to tours of North America, Europe, and the UK, and supporting slots with artists such as The Heavy, ZZ Ward, Ryan Bingham, and Dave Matthews Band to name a few.

The band will also be celebrating the release of the record with a sold out hometown show in San Diego at The Casbah tonight.

MODA SPIRA RELEASES "REGRET" FROM HER UPCOMING ALBUM 'DIVORCE'

MODA SPIRA RELEASES NEW SINGLE “REGRET”

moda-spira-regret.jpg

“The piano acts as a tense, pulsing metronome for Alattas’ rich vocals; as the violin crescendos and the song reaches a climax, the piano repeats like a film strip stuck on loop. Those suffering from their own tangled love story will relate to the feeling of atrophy, of endless mornings waking up to precious memories now fragmented and dull.”  AudioFemme

Singer-songwriter Latifah Alattas opens her heart and soul with Moda Spira’s sophomore album Divorce, due out October 26th, a project marked by deep emotional honesty and melodies brimming with tenderness. She has released the second single “Regret” today.

This new Moda Spira album is simply called, Divorce as it takes you on a sonic journey through the deterioration of Alattas’s marriage. Instead of burying, self-medicating or avoiding her pain - Alattas decided the only way around it was to face it head on and writing the songs on the album served as her guide through the dark and treacherous path of reliving and trekking through pain.

“Regret” is a slow, smooth ballad that embodies the scrambled questions and thoughts that rolled through Alattas’s mind when sorting through her grief and shock.

The album is available for pre-order  - both digitally and on 180 gram white vinyl HERE, and will be released with an accompanying podcast series that goes into the making of the record. The podcast is made up of 13 episodes, each episode is dedicated to a song on the record, in addition to a prologue and epilogue. On the podcast Alattas, who co-produced the record with Dave Wilton, give listeners into her painful story with raw transparency and emotion as she goes into the making of each song along with the story that inspired it.

LAURA ESCUDE RELEASES “CONTROL”

ANNOUNCES NEW EP TRANSMUTE COMING 11/16

laura-escude-control.jpg

“In order to really understand the complexities and genuine music crafting that she is doing, you’ll have to immerse yourself into her work.” - Noisey

Laura Escudé’s “Control” is out today worldwide on all major digital retailers and streaming services. This is the first single off the forthcoming EP Transmute due out on November 16th.

Laura Escudé is an artist, innovator, CEO and the world’s most in demand controllerist and live show designer with a deep understanding of complex technology, a profound passion for music and art and a unique talent for fusing the two.  She is the world's very first certified Ableton expert and trainer. Her work with Ableton has taken her all over the world working with artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Porter Robinson, Herbie Hancock, Bon Iver and Miguel, with whom she did double duty for on his Wildheart tour as his opening act and was in his band.

..... you are a badass, and you certainly have our attention.” - Hypebae

The demand for her work and time became so great that she started a company called Electronic Creatives - of which she is the CEO -  and hired and trained a team of top tier programmers to serve her A-List client roster which now includes The Weeknd, Harry Styles,Camila Cabello, Vic Mensa, Porter Robinson, Kid Cudi,  Iggy Azalea, Garbage, Charli XCX, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Drake, Logic, Selena Gomez and more. Her immense success has inspired her to give back and help pave the way for other women in the technology and electronic music space.  Escudé teaches masterclasses and is a frequent guest lecturer at events and major universities all over the world. This fall she will be a featured speaker at the Ableton Loop conference, and is lending her talents as a mentor to programs with Red Bull (Hack the Hits), Spotify (the CO.LAB Series) and Berklee School of Music (Signature Series). Last year she launched the first ever Transmute retreat, an immersive experience where attendees were able to dig deep with Escudé on live show design. The focus of the retreat was wellness, and the importance of a wellness practice in the life of a creative, a topic that Escudé is extremely passionate about. The retreat was so successful that Escudé is developing an online version of the course to be launched early next year to satiate the demand.

“We’re hearing, immersing and haven fallen prey to the siren sound of this producer who already lends her programming chops for Kanye West, Jay-Z and many other top dogs.”  - VIBE

Escudé has previously recorded and released music under the Alluxe moniker, and “Control” is the very first release since going back to using her own name. This new music retains her signature sound, a unique and intricate blend of classical and electronic music, and showcases her mastery in both worlds, as classically trained violinist and master technologist. “Control” is the sound of Escudé letting go. It was inspired by a wake up call, after a stint in the hospital due to exhaustion, that she needed to change her life.  Laura has spent the past year pulling back the layers of her psyche, tearing down the walls she built up around herself. The Transmute EP is the sound and feel of a woman who’s examined the darkest parts of herself and come out the other end transformed. It is an intimate look into her journey of finding her voice and being comfortable in her own skin, as an artist and a woman.

THE SILENT COMEDY RELEASES "AVALANCHE"

THE SILENT COMEDY RELEASES “AVALANCHE” FROM THEIR UPCOMING ALBUM ENEMIES MULTIPLY OUT OCT. 19TH

tsc-avalanche.jpg

The Silent Comedy has released the second single “Avalanche” from their upcoming album Enemies Multiply out Oct. 19th. At its core, “Avalanche” is the thesis statement for the entire record. Containing the line “Help, help is on the way...But not today,” it encapsulates brothers Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman’s worldview, which is equal parts hopefulness and dark  realism. This sentiment is especially timely given the state of the world at this moment in time.

For the band, this album was born of both professional and personal struggles they found themselves in over the years. Although tumultuous, these conflicts found their way into the recording process and emerged as a beautiful work of art. Enemies Multiply is a collection of 11 songs that was difficult to bring to life, but also a body of work that couldn’t be more relevant with our current cultural climate, to release this album in 2018. The album was delayed for a number of reasons, but things changed after the 2016 election. Feeling bewildered and frustrated, Joshua realized that the feeling of this moment is what they wrote the record for. A certain pall of outrage and desperation had settled over the country and in Joshua’s estimation, the album now had greater cultural resonance.

Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman formed the Silent Comedy in their adopted hometown of San Diego. The brothers spent their childhood traveling around the world with their missionary parents. The family returned to the U.S. and wandered around the entire United States before settling in San Diego, where they moved into a house with nothing in it but an upright piano. It was then - around high school - that the brothers started collaborating on songwriting as a form of catharsis. It is their travels that have colored their worldview, which when compared to some of their peers, is decidedly darker. Seeing the immense amount of suffering around the world really shaped how they look at life, and Enemies Multiply is a distillation of this somber perspective.

The band has two upcoming release shows planned for Enemies Multiply. The first in Los Angeles at the Hi Hat on 10/18 and the second in San Diego at the Casbah on 10/19, which is already sold out.

MODA SPIRA RELEASES "BANG" SINGLE + ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM 'DIVORCE'

MODA SPIRA ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF HER SINGLE “BANG” + NEW ALBUM DIVORCE COMING OCTOBER 26TH

moda-spira-bang-artwork.jpg

“Bang” marks one of many pivotal internal moments for Alattas, where she asks questions in the hopes of finding a valid reason for her suffering. With the track’s downtempo jazz influences, and of course Alattas’ pained vocals, the track has a palpable weariness. She’s dwelling upon emotions that hit as quick as a gunshot, aware that the reverberations will last much longer. “ The 405

Nashville by way of Denver artist Moda Spira has released “Bang,” the first single off of her sophomore album due out on October 26th. Moda Spira is the creation of songwriter, artist and producer Latifah Alattas. Alattas began writing under this moniker with the goal of exploring intimacy in all of it’s beauty and madness. In latin Moda Spira translates into “the continual act of breathing,” so like loving, breathing is something essential to our daily existence.

This new Moda Spira album is simply called, Divorce. The album is sonic documentation of the  deterioration of Alattas’s marriage. Instead of burying, self-medicating or avoiding her pain - Alattas decided the only way around it was to walk through it and writing the songs on the album served as her guide through the dark and treacherous path of reliving and trekking through pain.

The single, “Bang” is a jazzy, orchestral track that showcases the soul and emotion of Alattas’ most powerful instrument, her voice. “Bang” is the reaction to discovering the infidelity in her marriage.

The album includes a haunting cover of “Ring of Fire,” and showcases the breadth of Alattas talent with her emotive vocals on the R&B tinged track “Four Letter Word,”  to the evocative and intricate production on “Regret.”  The album is available for pre-order  - both digitally and on 180 gram white vinyl HERE, and will be released with an accompanying podcast series that goes into the making of the record. The podcast season is 13 episodes. Each episode is dedicated to a song on the record, in addition to a prologue and epilogue. On the podcast Alattas, who is also a producer and co-produced the record with Dave Wilton, goes into the making of each song along with the story and feelings that inspired it.

Alattas’ songs have been featured on One Tree HillThe Gates, Lifetime Films and the film The House at the End of the Street. As a producer and composer she has crafted incidental music for networks such as  MTV and E!, and has produced albums for a number of artists, including A Boy & His Kite, whose song “Cover Your Tracks”  she had a hand in placing on the soundtrack for Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part II. In addition to Moda Spira, Alattas has a long resume that includes time as a solo artist and work with Page CXVI, a band that reinterprets traditional hymns, the indie rock band Autumn Film and Sola-Mi, an experimental trio.

To support the album, Alattas will be headed out on tour with Liz Vice supporting her West Coast tour.

WILL DAILEY RELEASES DELUXE VERSION OF HIS LATEST ALBUM 'GOLDEN WALKER'

WILL DAILEY RELEASES DELUXE VERSION OF HIS LATEST ALBUM GOLDEN WALKER

will-dailey-golden-walker-deluxe.jpg

“He’s thinking about each person in his audience, and he’s thinking about the connection he has with them.”  - WGBH

Packed with rich storytelling and a refined sound, Boston artist Will Dailey has released a deluxe version of his latest album Golden Walker out worldwide today. The album includes five bonus tracks, three of which were recorded as part of a Live Spire Recording Session at Aloft Hotel on the road. Leading off the additional bonus songs, there is also a lively cover of Tom Waits’ “Hoist That Rag” and the B-side “I’m Not Sorry (I Need You So Much)”.

Using the iZotope Spire software, a recording studio that essentially fits in the palm of your hand, Dailey set up in a hotel room at Aloft to capture his introspective sound in a beautifully crafted live setting. The newly recorded tracks are a phenomenal edition to his latest musical offering.

“...with a ’70s vibe for a modern age — gliding synths, amusing instrumentation, and enthralling lyrics — the record entices listeners to engage with the individual lesson of each song.” –Cowboys & Indians

Songwriters, by nature, look and listen at the world within and around them, pulling it all in and pouring it all out in melody. Music is about connecting hearts through art, and Dailey’s Golden Walker is a meditation on life and how to navigate it within our current cultural climate. The inspiration for the name of the record started with a chance meeting in France Dailey had with a sculptor who heard his set in the tiny village he was playing that night. The sculptor told Dailey “All the gold is being take from our world. They take it all to use in technological devices that are supposed to help us communicate. The gold is disappearing, hidden in phones and computers that only leave us feeling more alone, separated and disconnected. When I heard you tonight through the walls of my workshop, I heard real communication. I heard you. You are a communicator.” He then sculpted and gifted Will a sculpture of a man with a gold nugget on his foot called “The Golden Walker,” and told Dailey that he had to be the keeper and protector of the gold and to keep communicating through music. Since that night, Dailey knew his next work had to be about human connection, compassion and accountability.

“How good is Will Dailey? He wrote a song called ‘When It Dies’ that magically uplifts. A gem of a melody sits at the center of a wonderfully musical mess with huge vocals — the man crushes you with the repeated refrain of ‘All we ever really want is not to be forgotten!’ All at once the tune recalls James Taylor’s simplicity, Ray LaMontagne’s intensity and Tom Waits’ weirdness. The rest of the new album, ‘Golden Walker,” possesses the same magic.”

- The Boston Herald

This is also Dailey’s second release outside of the major label system. The album is a follow up to National Throat, his indie debut, that went on to receive numerous awards including Album and Artist of the Year at the Boston Music AwardsSong of the Year and Producer of the Year at the New England Music Awards, Best of the Year by Improper Bostonian Magazine, debuted in the top 20 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and garnered over 9 million streams on Spotify. In addition to being a wildly successful independent artist Will has become and artist advocate. He has taken to mentoring artists and developing programs like the Fenway Rooftop Sessions to create a space for independent and up and coming artists to exercise their craft, and to ensure that there is always a space for art to grow and thrive.

THE SILENT COMEDY RELEASE "ENEMIES MULTIPLY" + ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT

THE SILENT COMEDY RELEASE THEIR “ENEMIES MULTIPLY” SINGLE

+ ANNOUNCE THE  ENEMIES MULTIPLY ALBUM OUT 10/19

enemies-multiply-single.jpg

LISTEN TO ENEMIES MULTIPLY : HERE

The Silent Comedy have released “Enemies Multiply” the title track from the forthcoming album due out 10/19 and available for pre-order HERE.

The songs on the album are inspired by professional and personal struggles the band found themselves in several years ago. The turmoil had a profound influence on the recording process, resulting in a body of work that was the most difficult to date for the band to create. But, like most great works of art, something really beautiful emerged from that very dark place. Enemies Multiply is a collection of 11 songs  that the band is very proud of. The timing couldn’t be better, with our current cultural climate, to release this album in 2018. “This album is a collection of anthems for dark times,” says Joshua Zimmerman. “Given the state of society today, we feel this is a perfect time to release Enemies Multiply. The average person has become more engaged in issues of exploitation and injustice than we have seen in recent years, and these songs speak directly to the feelings of anger, defiance, and frustration that many of us are feeling."

The release of the album was delayed for a number of reasons, with the main reason being that reliving the pain and frustration put into the songs was like rubbing salt into their wounds, and the brothers (Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman) chose, for a time, to focus their creative energies elsewhere. But then the 2016 election happened.  Joshua was living in New York City and was feeling bewildered and frustrated at the country’s new reality. He realized that the feeling of this moment is what they wrote the record for.  A certain pall of outrage and desperation had settled over the country and in Joshua’s estimation, the album now had greater cultural resonance.

The title track and current single, “Enemies Multiply,” is an examination of destructive personality types and how they affect the world around us. It embraces the view that mere participation in our society leaves an individual open to a certain amount of exploitation and betrayal. With lyrics like, “Won’t allow my heart to break for every beautiful mistake,” it also stands as a defiant anthem in the face of a bleak reality.

Seeing the immense amount of suffering around the world really shaped how they look at life, and Enemies Multiply is a distillation of this somber perspective.

This will be the band’s third full length record and the follow up to their last full length, Common Faults, which has gone through three rounds of CD re-pressings due to demand, and has garnered tens of millions of streams and downloads.Their music has also been paired with gritty American tales such as  Hatfields & McCoys, starring Kevin Costner,  the History Channel’s original series The Men Who Built America, Showtime’s Shameless, and the theme song for the first season of the Amazon show Goliath. The success of the album led to tours of North America, Europe, and the UK, and supporting slots with artists such as The Heavy, ZZ Ward, Ryan Bingham, and Dave Matthews Band to name a few.

The band has two release shows planned for Enemies Multiply. The first in Los Angeles at the Hi Hat on 10/18 and the second in San Diego at the Casbah on 10/19, which is already sold out.

JACK MOSBACHER RELEASES "VALERIES"

JACK MOSBACHER RELEASES “VALERIE”

jack-mosbacher-valerie-cover.jpg

San Francisco soul man Jack Mosbacher has released a brand new cover of “Valerie” originally performed and recorded by English band The Zutons. “Valerie” has also been covered by so many of Mosbacher’s favorite artists including Bruno Mars, Panic! At the Disco and most famously, the late Amy Winehouse who recorded a swinging soul version of the song for Mark Ronson’s 2007 record Version. His take on the single is fresh and upbeat but still captures the velvety, soulful essence of the original. He said of the song, “It’s my favorite to sing and perform, and I’m so proud of our Motown-style recording produced by the incomparable Michael Eisenstein.”

Having previously worked with Eisenstein on his magnificent David Ruffin tribute EP WhyNot (after Ruffin’s hometown of Whynot, Mississippi), “Valerie” seemed like the perfect song to record next.

WhyNot which was released earlier this year, was a way for Mosbacher to pay tribute to one of his biggest heroes growing up. He first began an ongoing love affair with music by listening to the music of The Temptations. Ruffin was forced to abandon a solo record following struggles with addiction and a tussle with Motown Records but thirty years later, an independent label acquired the album and quietly released it. Mosbacher jumped at the chance to honor his late idol’s forgotten work, and in collaboration with Eisenstein and an eclectic array of musicians, he covered four of Ruffin’s previously unreleased songs in a classic Motown session style: all of the instruments in one room, making music until they got it right. Watch an incredible live performance of one of the songs on the EP, “Your Heartaches I Can Surely Heal” HERE.

“He teamed up with Michael Eisenstein (Letters to Cleo, The Posies, Beck etc.) and a team of incredible musicians to breathe new life into these songs. The finished product is incredible.” –All Access Music (on WhyNot)

Exuding confidence, modern charisma and soulful warmth on “Valerie,” he considers it his love letter to the late Amy Winehouse whose beautiful light went out far too soon. Mosbacher’s voice revives the best of the past with timeless warmth, contemporary sensibility and authentic joy.

As with all his original music and tributes, Mosbacher’s respect for the incredible artists that came before him shines through in every note. Passionate, genuine and full of admiration, he is ecstatic to release his rendition of this wildly popular track.

LETTERS TO CLEO ANNOUNCE FALL TOUR + THEIR ANNUAL BOSTON HOMECOMING SHOWS

LTC_MERGED_square.jpg

Boston’s Alt. Rock pioneers Letters to Cleo will be headed back out on the road this fall for a short run of intimate shows on the east coast including their annual pair of homecoming shows at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston.

“The idea to make this a yearly event came right after we played the Boston shows supporting the Back to Nebraska EP in 2016,”  says Michael Eisenstein. “We were right on stage at The Paradise when our manager said ‘same weekend next year?’  We want to play more shows but having half the band in Boston and half in LA, and managing our professional lives outside the band makes it super hard. But now we know a year out, we’re playing Boston (and maybe a few other cities) the weekend before Thanksgiving. It’s great for our fans too. People travel in from other cities, other countries even. We’re really thrilled to be announcing the third annual LTC Homecoming Weekend.” The band will be doing two nights at the Paradise with both single and two day tickets available.

“There aren’t many things we love more than playing Cleo songs in front of a Boston audience,” says Kay Hanley. “So when the conversation came up about doing another homecoming weekend at the Paradise this year, it was pretty much the quickest, most unanimous group text in band history.”

American HiFi will be supporting Letters to Cleo on all four dates. Stacy Jones who will be doing double duty fronting American HiFi and playing drums with Letters to Cleo said “I am excited to be playing with both bands. There is a real family element here. We have all known each other for over 20 years. Being back in Boston, where Letters to Cleo started and being with friends and family is really special. It’s a great start to the Holidays.”  American HiFi is currently in the studio and plan on releasing an EP of covers this fall.

Letters to Cleo formed in 1990 in Boston, lead by guitarist Greg Mckenna and singer Kay Hanley. The band came onto the National spotlight with the release of their first hit single "Here & Now,” released by Giant Records (a subsidiary of Warner Brothers Records). The song reached No. 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock Singles chart. The band’s music could be heard on many of the top TV shows and films throughout the 1990’s, including the cult classic 10 Things I Hate About You, where the band contributed 4 songs to the soundtrack and were feature in the film.  The band played their last show in 2000 and each of the members went on to have successful careers working in different areas of music from production, writing, performance, musical directing etc.

The original members reunited in the fall of 2016 for the release of the Back to Nebraska EP, their first new music from Letters to Cleo in seventeen years.

ABC News said “These five songs deliver exactly the kind of infectious power-pop that made them famous” and the Boston Globe said “It’s full of sweetly sour confections that recall the Alternative Nation era, like “Can’t Say,” which undercuts its sunshine-bright chorus with a growling bridge, and the brooding title track, which showcases lead singer Kay Hanley’s pensive side.”

Last fall the band released their first three albums Aurora Gory Alice, Wholesale Meats and Fish and Go! on vinyl for the first time ever, through a limited edition pressing. Copies of these three albums along with the vinyl version of Back to Nebraska are available on LettersToCleo.net

THE MOWGLI’S ANNOUNCE THEIR NEW EP 'I WAS STARTING TO WONDER' + FALL TOUR DATES

THE MOWGLI’S ANNOUNCE THEIR NEW EP "I WAS STARTING TO WONDER'

+ FALL TOUR DATES

I-Was-Starting-to-Wonder.jpg

The Mowgli’s will be releasing a four song EP  I Was Starting to Wonder on August 17th.  The EP includes two previously released singles “Real Good Life” and “Kansas City” and two new tracks “I Feel Good About This” and “Best of Us.” Both of the new songs offer a glimpse into the band’s life: On the road where missing family and friends is balanced by the excitement of new experiences; and reflection on their personal lives as they’ve grown up in the group together. “Kansas City”, which is currently The Mowgli’s 3rd highest streaming song reflects on more intimate themes of dealing with personal struggles. Ultimately though, the EP is a celebration of life in all its forms and contrasts.

“From political unjust and ‘fake news’ to climate change and tragic natural disasters, it's difficult to see the good things sometimes. But if anyone can do it, it's The Mowgli's.” - Pop Crush

The band took this celebration on the road with the Real Good Life tour earlier this year, a run that saw them go back into more intimate venues to re-establish that close connection with fans. Starting the tour with the release of the “Real Good Life” single, they wrapped up in Kansas City, releasing the song “Kansas City” the evening before. These club dates were followed by a trip to Honduras and Guantanamo Bay for back-to-back July 4th shows entertaining the Armed Forces, an experience that was profoundly memorable for the whole band.

The band also wrote and performed the title track to Disney TV’s new animated series “Big City Greens”. Directors The Houghton Brothers sought the band out specifically to capture the raucous excitement embodied by main character Cricket Green.

Listen to “Big City Greens” here:

Formed in 2010 by the coalescing of a Venice music collective, The Mowgli’s began as a 10+ member group playing house parties and warehouse gatherings. The release of their first major-label LP Waiting For The Dawn in 2013 saw immediate success with the hit single “San Francisco." The record - which focused on the joy of bringing people together - immediately connected in a cynical world. The band quickly found themselves playing to sold out crowds in clubs around the U.S. and inundated by requests for press, sponsorships and partnerships.  Appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Firefly, Osheaga, Bottlerock and many other festivals followed as did performances on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan and a stint as the SXSW House band for Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live (Bravo).

To support the EP the band will heading out on the road in November playing shows on the West Coast.

MIRANDA GLORY RELEASES NEW SINGLE “HYPOCHONDRIAC”

MIRANDA GLORY RELEASES NEW SINGLE “HYPOCHONDRIAC”

miranda-glory-hypochondriac-cover-art.jpg

Los Angeles-based artist Miranda Glory is excited to announce the release of her new single “Hypochondriac” out today. The initial inspiration for this track stemmed from hours of endlessly surfing WebMD. She started to see some interesting parallels between the fear of diseases and the anxieties we experience in relationships. During a late night songwriting session with a few close friends, she wrote the lyrics to visually convey these feelings, and laid them over a catchy melody syncopated with beats.

"Wherever she goes, Miranda Glory makes an impression. Her innate talent and music school pedigree have made her a rising star to watch in the singer/songwriter community." –Inspirer Magazine

This hypnotic new track follows Glory’s previous collaboration “Stain” with Colin Chase and Gill Chang that came out on KnightVision Records earlier this year. Before that, she also collaborated with established European Artist & DJ Tujamo on the single “Body Language” (feat. Miranda Glory & Haris) and with R3HAB & Noah Neiman for the single “We Do (feat. Miranda Glory)” which debuted on 25 of Spotify’s New Music Fridays worldwide in April and has since garnered over 6.8 million plays.

2017 was just as much of a whirlwind for Glory as her career skyrocketed with two debut singles “Blue Eyes (feat. Matty Owens)” and “Take” on iconic New York City-based label Tommy Boy Entertainment. This was also when she signed a worldwide deal with Selected/Sony Music Germany and Ultra Music U.S. for her single “Instant Gratification,” all while co-writing and being featured on RYNX’s single “Want You” that has gained over 9 million plays on Spotify, and has been shared and reposted racking up over 100 million impressions on YouTube & other platforms, alongside the official video.

"...the writing is some of the best you have heard in months; maybe even years." –Indie Shuffle

Growing up, Glory first fell in love with music by doing musical theater and listening to everything from John Mayer and Coldplay to Michael Jackson and Nirvana. This is where her eclectic pop sound truly began to develop. She started writing her own songs and learned to play guitar, piano and drums. It catapulted her into an ongoing love affair with music, later attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she earned her degree. After graduating, she was discovered and selected to the exclusive Neverland Songwriting Retreat in Costa Rica, which put her on the map as a songwriter. After that, she went bicoastal, ferrying back and forth from New York and Los Angeles, writing with established songwriters and producers, including Autumn Rowe (Fifth Harmony, Cher Lloyd), Sheppard Solomon (Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears), Zac Poor (Tori Kelly, MNEK), David Brook (Eminem, Charlie Puth), The Fliptones (Jason  Derulo, Flo Rida) and more.

Working with such established producers and songwriters helped her to hone her craft and draw inspiration from all different areas of her life. “Hypochondriac” is the perfect example of how Glory can take a spark of an idea and turn it into cleverly crafted lyrics and an infectious, captivating beat.

THE DAVENPORTS RELEASE DON'T BE MAD AT ME ALBUM TODAY

THE DAVENPORTS RELEASE DON’T BE MAD AT ME

DAVENPORTS-CD-COVERART_preview.jpeg

Filled with smooth, slightly punky angst and raw yet beautifully affective arrangements, it's a must-hear collection for any fan of the style. – Pop Matters

New York indie pop band The Davenports are excited to announce the release of their new album Don’t Be Mad At Me out everywhere today.

The Davenports is the longtime project of songwriter and musician Scott Klass. Although Klass is at the helm of the writing and creative process behind The Davenports, he has always looked at the project as a collective. The collective is made up a rotating group of stellar artists creating music with regular appearances by Claudia Chopek (Father John Misty, Springsteen, Moby), Garo Yellin (The Band’s Visit, The Ordinaires, Pere Ubu), Danny Weinkauf, Dan Miller (They Might Be Giants), Erik Philbrook, Rob Draghi and Cheri Leone to name a few. Best known for “Five Steps,” the theme song to A&E’s Emmy-nominated Intervention, Klass has also built a reputation for what Pop Matters calls “gentle compositions and earnest songwriting [that] evoke the inviting, bittersweet charm of artists like Weezer, Andrew McMahon, Ben Folds, Danielson, Loud Family, and Half-Handed Cloud.”

This record is all about moment-in-time stories that drive through the rocky terrain of human nature. Twists and turns of phrase and melody connect a soundtrack that’s equal parts expansive rock and close melancholy. The first single on the album, “Where Shall We Hang Elena,” was inspired by a photograph of Klass’s mother who passed away when he was young and the sadness that often comes with the desire to honor the memory of a lost loved one but also wanting to forget the pain that comes with it. The album’s title track “Don’t Be Mad at Me” is another story very close to Klass about his father who had to take the car keys away from his mentally ill aunt, even though it was her prized possession.

“Don’t Be Mad At Me” examines this complicated relationship from both sides, and once again, Klass captures it with the same cleverness and intellect he’s come to be known for.” –Magnet Magazine

Don’t Be Mad At Me also marks a series of firsts for Klass. Shirley Simms of The Magnetic Fields handles lead vocals on “Miranda in Her Room,” the first Davenport's song to ever feature a lead vocalist other than Klass. The track ”I Don’t Know What to Do”--marks Klass’s entry into the world of co-writing as he worked on the song with Swedish pop musician David Myhr (The Merrymakers) last year. “Miranda in Her Room,” and “I Don’t Know What to Do” were also collaborations, and in this case long distance international collaborations.

In addition to the Davenports, Klass is a member of Look Park, the new project from Fountains of Wayne frontman Chris Collingwood which also includes Philip Price of Winterpills. Last year, the trio played Japan’s Fuji Rock festival, opened for Squeeze on their west coast tour, and last spring, Klass and Collingwood supported rock legend Dave Davies of the Kinks.

DAN SADIN RELEASES SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP

DAN SADIN RELEASES SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP

DannySadin-EP.png

“The Dan Sadin EP trembles and aches, like aftershocks of an altogether damaging, merciless earthquake."B-Sides & Badlands

Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Dan Sadin is excited to announce the release of his debut solo self-titled EP. Best known for being the guitarist in electropop band FRENSHIP, his debut solo EP is raw, honest and filled with tender, heart-swelling lyrics.

In addition to working with FRENSHIP regularly, he has co-written and played on tracks with artists including Sabrina Claudio, Jessie Ware, Frenship, MØ and more. As a guitarist, producer and songwriter, Sadin felt it was important to explore his vulnerability and dug deep into his rock roots for this project, having grown up listening to artists like Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Springsteen. His songs are an honest exploration of where the music we currently listen to comes from and an original take on where it can go. In fact, Sadin does what  very few artists are willing to do: disregard current music trends in an effort to stay true to his roots and openly connect with his most important musical inspirations.

“It’s almost instinctual – that feeling of dread when we know the relationship is over and how it’s only a matter of time before the glass shatters. LA artist Dan Sadin is channeling that darkness into something a little sweeter today with ‘Here Comes The Heartbreak’...With this in mind, Sadin plucks soft strings with bitter intent, bearing the heavy weight of a heart breaking in real time.

All Things Go

The material for this self-explorative EP was taken from a critical time in Sadin’s life. Fresh from a romantic and band break up, he went on to travel the world with Frenship, not leaving him a ton of time to process the loss. “The Way That It Hurts” is a cathartic outpouring in the form of big guitars and a sweeping chorus. Girl Underground Music said of the track, “The repetitive and progressive strumming hails from the end of the glam era of rock, as Sadin’s musical breaks revives the modern approach of the track.” The second single, “Here Comes The Heartbreak” is a deeply personal track about expressing gratitude for someone who’d changed his life, even if their relationship didn’t work. In “Lost on Nothing,” written alongside his close friend and collaborator, Colyer, he reflects on the struggle of seeing his country divided and tearing itself apart while feeling powerless in coming up with a sustainable solution.

The material emmenates sincerity and results in a unique musical style seamlessly intertwined  in vulnerability. Of the EP Sadin says, “I needed to create the music I’ve been looking for. I had to capture the voice I needed to hear. This EP is me: my experiences, my relationships and my feelings. There’s nothing to hide behind. The fear of being this open and exposed has held me back from doing this for a long time. But if I truly want something, I have to be willing to try and create it for myself and this EP is the start of that journey.”

Prior releases in the ‘BooCoo Amigos’ series include duets with Lilly Winwood (Americana singer and daughter of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Steve Winwood) and Elizabeth Cook. Cowboys & Indians called the Lilly Winwood duet “Hard to Tell,” “a fun, whimsical track that utilizes its steel guitar, organ, and bluesy guitar licks to emphasize Winwood’s unique voice and Ray’s signature eccentric style.” The Holiday duet with Elizabeth Cook “All Strung Out With Christmas Lights” was praised by Rolling Stone County, who called “a boozy bedrock of electric guitar, pedal steel and barroom piano.”  The Country Note called the song “fun” and “flirty,” and  No Depression recommended for readers to “Spin this tune while you’re stringing the lights on the tree with someone you want to be with and see what happens.” Additional praise for the series has come from  Wide Open Country, Battered and Brewed, Glide Magazine, Nashville Music Guide, The Alternate Root and more.

Ray and Brock struck up a fast friendship over their mutual love of food and tattoo’s, both of which served as inspiration for the 7inch. The relationship started as most modern friendships do, on the internet. Brock had spotted a photo Ray posted to instagram of a tattoo from Athens, GA artist Mitchell Atkinson (Twins of Pain), via the hashtag #MitchellAtkins. Brock was so impressed to find a like-minded admirer of Atkins’ work the photo left a lasting impression him, and he started to follow Ray on social media. As luck would have it Brock spotted Boo, recognizing him from Instagram, at the East Nashville coffee shop Barista Parlor.  The two struck up a conversation and became fast friends.

When they started to write and make music together, they back to the source of how the first met for “Saint Misbehavin.’“ “Sean and I discovered that we had an Athens Georgia tattooist in common, “ Says Ray, “a wild rebel soul named Mitchell Atkinson that was one half of Twins of Pain Tattooing. After talking guitars, Jerry Reed, Billy Gibbons and Southern Culture On The Skids we figured we ought to write a number about Mitch, bemoaning ‘the foolish ways that take our friend before they’re old,’  and since it’s Chef Sean Brock I’m working with here, the obligatory ‘Soul Food Cookin’ song was natural as a hiccup.”

The first verse of “Saint MisBehavin’” references Atkins’ violent and fiery death in a hot rod accident  with the verse “curse the foolish ways that take my friends before they're old.”  The  second verse the lyric “friends taken away by the foolish ways” eludes the coal mining industry in  the Appalachian Mountains  where both Brock and Ray grew up. “Watching Boo Ray magically turn our ideas into something you can play on a turntable was the songwriting equivalent of ‘farm to table’ cooking,” say Brock. “These songs were made to crank up with the windows down and the throttle wide open.“

The titled “Saint Misbehavin” is cleverly named after the Patron Saint of Body Art, “Saint Theresa the Tatted,” a mystical character who lived in war torn state of Kosovo in the early 90s. Legend has it that she kept an entire convent on nuns alive during the war by smuggling them food under her clothes, hanging the items on her body piercings.
